Dave/Rachel: Trash The Dress!

Sometimes timing is everything…

Rachel and I had been trying to schedule a time to film their “after wedding video” for about three months now but scheduling conflicts, weather, and life in general seemed to always change our plans. We tried to film it last month and got rained out, but we did at least get to spend time with Dave, Rachel, and Rachel’s sister Bethany and her mom Bonnie, which we always really enjoy. This weekend we not only had absolutely fabulous weather, but we were privileged enough to be able to shoot their Trash the Dress session as well. I wanted to do something like this for a while now, and this really gave me the opportunity to stretch my creative muscles, figuratively, and my leg muscles, quite literally… but walking up steep hills and climbing around wet rocks will tend to do that to you. We drove out to Mt. Mitchell in NC, where Dave proposed, to film some short segments of the video and to take some awesome shots incorporating that breathtaking view. You know, it doesn’t seem like that long of a walk up to the summit from the parking lot until you try it. I was seriously winded by the time we got up there, but I’m still blaming it on the atmosphere and the extra equipment weight on my back, if anyone asks. Once we left the mountain we headed back to Rachel’s parents’ house where her mom and dad were kind enough to provide us with a late lunch, and some absolutely delicious homemade pecan pie. After that we all drove out to Looking Glass Falls to trash Rachel’s dress, where Rachel’s dad Hank was kind enough to help lug our equipment down all those stairs and hold on to it while we splashed around in the river. It was already nearing twilight when we got there, and getting colder every minute. I took a few pictures, but we really didn’t have enough light left to get everything Rachel and I wanted pictures of, so we decided to pack it in and try again the next day. The next morning we wrapped up the video shoot (which we will be posting in the coming weeks…so stay tuned…) and headed back to the falls. The nice weather drew out other people to look at the waterfall, and our impromptu audience got a pretty good show of a bride and groom dunking themselves in freezing water, and David and I walking around with our pants legs rolled up with cameras and bags on our backs. Seriously, people actually brought their picnic lunches down there by the rocks to sit and watch the crazy people play in the water. Rachel and Dave weren’t the only ones who braved the cold though…in order to get some of these shots my backside got submerged a few times too. David was the only one who got off easy in that regard, although I do give him credit for navigating slippery rocks and carrying most of the equipment around for me. It was a busy couple of days but we had a blast spending time with Rachel, Dave, and their family. We are truly grateful that they chose us as their videographers and impromptu photographers, and that they put up with all the crazy ideas we came up with. You guys are the best! We hope you enjoy this sneak peek of your Trash the Dress photos….believe me there are lots more, but these are just a few of our favs. Enjoy!

Casey/Kirby Fairytale from Reel Pixel Motion on Vimeo.

This video was filmed with Casey and Kirby in Spartanburg, South Carolina. With this “After Wedding” highlight we wanted to tell a story with the couple that was unique to them and their interests, so we decided that the best way for us to tell a story with Casey and Kirby was with a couple of elements from the classic fairy tales of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Since Beauty and the Beast played such a integral part in how they started dating and when Kirby proposed, we were excited to see how we could incorporate it in this video for them. We hope you enjoy the results!

Rachel and Dave are the perfect example of why we love filming weddings….because for a few brief moments we get to be instrumental in creating a memory that will last them for the rest of their lives. We are so thrilled that they chose us to record those precious memories for them and their families and friends. One of the things that we loved about Dave and Rachel and their families is that no one ever feels like a stranger, every time we parted it was with a hug and a smile. We hope you guys enjoy this highlight of your wedding day, and thanks again for choosing us to make it happen!

Casey/Kirby Wedding: Taylors, SC

Once Upon A Time…

In a land not so far away, Casey had once given up on finding a true love. She decided to stop looking, for she had grown discouraged with all the “frogs” that never quite transformed. She soon learned, however, that the moment you stop looking for all the wrong things, sometimes that is when you find exactly what you need. The very moment our handsome prince Kirby saw the beautiful Casey he knew something “magical” would happen.

Now as we turn the page to chapter three, we see how their romance has blossomed into the fullest expression of love. Casey and Kirby exchanged vows, and had a truly beautiful wedding full of love, laughter, excitement, songs, and glitter. Lots and lots of glitter. As they drove off to their honeymoon in the warm glow of the sparklers held by their loved ones, the pages turned once again…. and everyone watching them drive away could tell that Casey and Kirby finally had their “Happily Ever After”.

We hope you enjoy your highlight guys, and congratulations!!

Casey/Kirby Love Story Video~ Greenwood, South Carolina

We learned something very important as we were on our way to Greenwood to film Casey and Kirby for their Love Story video, and that is Us+Downtown Greenwood x US 25= confusion. I think we went in every possible direction on that road and still couldn’t find the church we were supposed to meet them at. I’m pretty sure at one point the highway actually intersected with itself…it felt like getting lost in another dimension. Not only that but there are apparently two Restoration Churches in Greenwood, so naturally we go to the wrong one first (thanks mapquest!). Long story short, we finally made it there and got to spend some time filming Casey and Kirby, who are such an amazing couple. We filmed the interview portion of the love story at the church, then headed out into the freezing cold to film a re-enactment of Kirby’s proposal and some really gorgeous shots of the two of them for this music video you are about to see. They did a fabulous job, and we can’t wait to film them again at their wedding in March.

A Walk in the Park…

Welcome to the first post of our new Blogsite! I decided to post a few of my favorite pictures from a recent session I had with the Carraway family. Heather is a friend of mine way back from our elementary school years, and we reconnected earlier this year through facebook. David and I had such a great time photographing them for some family portraits at Falls Park in Greenville. Heather and Jason’s three year old daughter Maddie did so well posing for the pictures….and mom and dad did pretty good themselves!

Enjoy!
